to Setting Up a Ritual Altar

by Traci Moon

Ritual magick is an ancient practice that has been used for centuries by the Black Adept to harness the power of the universe and bring their desires to fruition. To perform a successful ritual, you need to have a proper set of tools. In this post, we will discuss the various tools that a Black Adept can use in their ritual magick practice.

Tools and Meanings

1.  Altar

An altar is a sacred space that is set up to perform ritual magick. It can be as simple or as elaborate as you like, but it should be a space that is dedicated solely to your magickal practice.

2. Altar Cloth or Tapestry

An altar cloth or tapestry is used to cover the altar and to create a sacred space. It can be any color or design, but black, red, and white are most commonly used.

3. Athame or Dagger

An athame is a ceremonial knife that is used to direct energy during ritual magick. It is typically made of metal and has a sharp point, which is used to draw energy and create a protective circle. White or Black handles are preferred.

4. The Book of Shadows

A magickal journal called the Book of Shadows is used to record spells, incantations, and other magickal workings. It is typically kept private and is a sacred tool for the Black Adept.

5. The Bell

The bell is used to mark the beginning and end of a ritual. It is also used to clear negative energy and to summon entities.

6. Candles

Candles are used to represent the element of fire and to create a sacred space during ritual magick. They can be any color, but black, red, and white are most commonly used.

7. The Chalice or Cup

9. Parchment

Parchment is used to write down spells, incantations, and other magickal workings. It can be made of any material but should be kept clean and free from smudges.

10. The Pentacle

A pentacle is a flat disc that is typically made of metal or stone and is inscribed with various symbols. It is used to represent the element of earth and is often used in conjunction with the athame during ritual magick.

11. The Robe or Cloak

The robe or cloak is worn during ritual magick to create a sacred space and to help the Black Adept focus their energy. It can be made of any material but should be black, red or another dark color. The one i have is reverseble.

12. The Wand

A wand is a powerful tool that is used to direct energy during ritual magick. It can be made of wood, metal, or crystal and is typically used to invoke or banish entities.

13. Magick Circle

A Magick Circle is essential when creating rituals. I prefer to use The Universal Circle by E.A. Koetting, or the Qliphothic Magick Circle by Asenath Mason. They help you summon spirits.

It prominently features a series of ancient Aramaic commands that inspire the spirit to respect and admire you as an important magician – as opposed to circles that flaunt useless god names and try to violently threaten” the spirit. “ - Become a Living God

“Sadly, I only have a very limited availability, so ACT NOW, or else you’ll miss out.” - E.A. Koetting
